LASITHI TOUR
Dictaion andro Cave is famous in Greek mythology as
the place where Amalthea, nurtured the infant Zeus with
her goats milk. The nurse of Zeus, was charged by Rhea
to raise the infant Zeus in secret here, to protect him
from his father Cronus.
Krasi village belongs to the municipality of Chersonissos.
It is a mountainous village at an altitude of 600
meters. Point of reference of the village is the perennial
huge plane tree whose trunk has got a perimeter of 24
meters and is branched into several arms. The plane tree
is 2400 years old and it is said that each meter of its
perimeter corresponds to 100 years. It is estimated that
more than 10 people are required to hug this giant trunk.
This plane tree is among the 5 largest European trees. As
stated by the Dutch forester, Jeroen Pater, there are 200
trees in Europe with a diameter more than 10 meters.

About the tour
– First stop Lassithi Plateau to the Cave. Is about
1km by feet to reach the entrance of the cave.
The entrance fee is 6€ and is not included to
the payment of the hole excursion
– Second stop village Krasi, the traditional village
with the huge plane tree. You will have lunch of
your choice in traditional taverna . The price of
of the meal is not included to the payment of the
whole excursion.
– Last stop Omalia Olive Press at Mallia. A factory
that produce oil, you will see the old and new
way that they produce the 100% virgin oil. An
unforgettable experience! The entrance is free.

What a fantastic service! We used Safe rides transfers for multiple trips during our stay in Greece. The drivers are friendly, prompt, easy to contact and have alot of knowledge about the local area. Prices are reasonable (able to pay by cash and card too!) and the vehicles are clean and comfortable. Would 100% recommend using this company if travelling in the area.
