About the tour
The artificial cave in the cliff of the Matala bay
were created in the Neolithic Age. Also was
the port of Phaistos during the Minoan period.
Matala was a fishing village. In the 1960s, the
caves were occupied by hippies, who where
later driven out by the church and the military
junta. Malala’s hippie history relives during the
3 days Matala Beach Festival, every June.
There you will have time for walk and swim if
you prefer.
Kamilari is a traditional village. The origin of the
name is Byzantine. It is derived from the word
“Kamilaris” meaning the one who rides a came.
Original owners of the name Kamilari live in
Cyprus as Catholic Maronites and are quite active
with investments and activities
in the area of Kamilari.
At Kamilari you could have for lunch

Why Choose Safe Rides Transfer
We used Safe Rides Transfers for a group retreat in Crete and overall had a good experience. The drivers were punctual, professional, and our guests felt well looked after, which we really appreciated. On the coordination side, there’s a bit of room for improvement. Some of the email communication felt repetitive (requesting information that had already been provided), and I found myself needing to follow up for clarification a few times. More clarity and attention to detail in communication would make the process smoother. That said, the actual transfer service itself was reliable and well executed.

Such a great experience! Easy booking, and they are great at answering questions! Our driver was at the pick-up lokation 10 minuts early, and had water for us all day. The driver was kind and explained the cities we drove through, but also let us talk without him so we felt we had a lot of privacy. We drove from Chania to Knossos Palace and to Heraklion in the morning, and at 20.00 we drove back to Chania. Same driver, same comfortable Mercedes, and same good service. We can really recommend this company to everyone!

The driver was very polite and professional, and the car was of excellent quality — clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. From start to finish, the client is taken care of in every aspect.
